Re: ⚽ Olympiakos FC v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Faux.
Exactly you keep a youngster involved by giving him minutes. Not by sitting on the bench seeing other lesser players doing fuck all. Mubama had enough time on the bench last season doing Exactly the same.
Olympiacos were always going to give us a game especially with Moyes in charge.
He's doing everything as predicted.
Ings shouldn't be on the bench. Marshall should, another hat trick tonight.

Yet Two is still Moyes in, or is he ?

.,.....on top of all that Ings is past it and earning a reported 125k PW until 2025.
We'd be better off coming to an agreement and paying his contract up, and in the meantime starting Bowen as the CF and Kudos wide!
Then in January let Steidten recruit a proper striker.

Re: ⚽ Olympiakos FC v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Who the fuck signed Ings? Must have been Sullivan because anyone who knows anything about football knows he is totally unsuitable for Moyes's style & tactics and the polar opposite to Antonio. Must be one of the worst signings in our history.
Even The Standard's report on the game was purely about our never ending striker issues and how ineffective Ings was and unsuited he is to our style of play. The stats said he touched the ball less than other player on the pitch who started and that he was only just Infront of Antonio for touches even though Antonio was a sub.

Not sure what the fuck is wrong with Moyes. Why is he persisting with him and ignoring Nubumawho is actually a direct replacement for Antonio? Surely he could only be more effective than Ings, can't see any logic there at all.
Scamacca was a much better player than Ings, scored more and suited our style better, even when half fit but we couldn't wait to get rid of him, madness!

Antonio isn't the answer either, he's too old, inconsistent and not clinical enough to still be our main striker, another point The Standard made.

With Soucek and Ings on the pitch it was almost like having 1-2 less players.

Another worrying sign ironically is that Kudus’s best work was defensively. He made 3 or 4 good challenges and one excellent foot in around the penalty box to deny them a shot or win the ball back. Going forward we were non existent really. But that is imo largely due to the player selections and midfield set up which saw us unable to beat their press as is our struggle most games whoever is playing

Mubama will eventually become an excellent premiership striker and it will be really good to see him at the London Stadium, only problem is he’ll be playing for the bloody spuds as their manager will have faith and confidence in him and a play him.

Mubama was scoring in preseason & it seems obvious he would be a bigger threat than Ings. Mubama has literally gone round with the team for games on end just getting splinters in his ARSE. Give the kid a run!

Not the biggest fan of Benrahma as he lacks end product but Moyes does seem bent on destroying any confidence he has.

Have always liked Fornals for his effort but plays so rarely and always out of position. Looks a shadow of himself. Must be looking for the exit in the summer ... unless the manager changes

Apart from not giving Mubama any game time at all, and he has had plenty of opportunities to do that, the Moyes sub that has made me more angry than any other is vs. Villa when he took Antonio off for Fornals on 90 mins.

55th minute. beckon Mubama from the bench, point at the scoreboard, point at the unfortunate Ings, Give speech about nothing to lose and only needing to improve on Ings performance to win the away support over and send the lad on.

We'd have all understood it, we'd have all supported it.

But no.

Classic insecure, controlling personality type - makes for a destroyer of any creativity or young talent as a manager.

Re: ⚽ Olympiakos FC v West Ham - Official Match Thread
The Exile - being professionals and being paid a lot of money doesn’t come into it at all.

Obviously not on the same scale but a couple of years ago my work team had a really shit manager who micro managed and always had digs at anyone she felt wasn’t doing what she them to do. She was closed to any ideas other than her own and shut out anyone who disagreed or had a constructive point to make.

We were all senior managers on decent salaries. The impact of the management style was that most of the team were looking for a way out and didn’t put in any extra effort for her - she would take the credit when things worked out, and then blame others when things didn’t. Not once did she reflect on how she managed or motivated the team, or ask for others views on that. It was the total opposite, she doubled down on her truly terrible style and put more pressure on people with things like “You don’t understand what I want you to do, you need to rethink everything you are doing”.

It was the worst working environment I’ve ever been in. We then had a new manager come in and set out how he wanted to work with us. The difference in a very short time period was immense. I’m not a fan of cliches, but I’d ‘run through walls’ for the new manager. Money has nothing to do with this change in attitude, I’m still at the same place at the same senior management level.

Whilst it’s not in the press at all I’d imagine Moyes style is more of a dictator than a collaborator, which is why we get players frozen out and others completely played out of position. Over time this will eat away at their confidence and have a direct impact of the performance of the team.

Agree with that. Moyes has totally broken Fornals and Benny. Which is a shame as both are useful. He's never liked Benny anyway which is clear.

He's also broken Cornet and he broke Scamacca.

Whether anyone thinks those four are any good or not is another thing, but it's really bad squad management.

On a plus side, Oggy is a bit of a major concern for me now. The mistake against Topla and last night don't fill me with confidence going forward. It might be time to move on rather soon.

Moyes's fault again - Olympiakos are surely the strongest Team we are going to meet and to play them at home with a weaker team than against either Freiberg or Topola is just crazy... what did he expect.

He's destroyed Fornals confidence-wise - I'm surprised the guy even turns up. Benny is the same he is frustrating but I bet he's just scared of making a mistake as Moyes always calls him out if he does... unlike his pet Soucek

Re: ⚽ Olympiakos FC v West Ham - Official Match Thread
On the whole I don't go along with all this "Moyes has broken the players" bollox, though I can accept that there might be an element of truth in it. But look, players like Ogbonna, Fornals, Benrahma, Ings and Cornet are professionals, getting extremely well paid. If they get left out of PL games, too fucking bad - all the more reason for them to bust a gut when they do get an opportunity. What the fuck is wrong with them? Yes, the manager is responsible for tactics and general approach to the game but there can be no excuse from these players for the diabolical lack of effort and basic skills that we saw last night.

Re: ⚽ Olympiakos FC v West Ham - Official Match Thread
It was an absolute dogshit performance. No-one played well at all. Granted their second goal was really lucky but a pathetic showing from every player on the pitch in a blue shirt. They weren't even that good at all but we were complete pony to a man.

Paqueta despite scoring was absolutely atrocious and looked completely disinterested.

Almost feels like something has happened behind the scenes during the week. The starting 11 were shit, all the replacements were shit too. Maybe there was a bit of arrogance and the expectation of an easy three points as we've become accustomed to in European group games.

Moyes has got away with rotating this season so far, but on this occasion he underestimated the opposition and paid the price. I am sure we can still win the group or at the very least go second, but this was not a good result at all and now puts us under a bit of pressure going forward.

Dreadfully disappointing night.

We have to give Moyes credit for what he has achieved playing Moyesball. Saying that, our team on paper should have beaten them in all honesty without breaking sweat. I don't know what they do in training and have no idea what is going on in Moyes's head but it's time for him to gracefully depart. We've had our trophy but we all want to move the club on and this is just stagnating and will ultimately lead to the loss of the quality players and back to mid/lower table obscurity. We're better and dare i say it now 'bigger' than dogfighting relegation year in year out. Time for change.

I knew we would lose when I saw he was starting with Ings. Might have well as started with 10 men. I am not of the Moyes out brigade and I am very grateful for the last few years he has given us. But I can't see anyone can be blamed for this other Moyes for all the reasons below.

Interestingly I am sure he never rested so many 1st players in Europe before. At least not until we were comfortable in the group. And when he did he filled it with the youngsters. If he was resting strikers he should have put Mubama up front. It's more forgivable losing a game like this from resting players if you are at least trying to bring through talent.

downes was MOTM in at least three of the group games last season, it made no difference. snubbed most of the league games, and when he did get the odd chance played on the wing or as a number ten. another victim of his soucek obsession

'But, from their point of view, they turn up and play well and what happens? They get dropped next game. They've given up.''

Yep - agreed with that. As noted on the Moyes out thread - he destroys players confidence.

His post match comment of;

"I don't think anybody could say the team we started with wasn't a good team and wasn't a team capable of winning or performing.

Many of them have been very good players for us over the years and still are."

....was fucking ridiculous as even if they had performed well they would absolutely not have got into the team for Sunday. He's effectively saying it's the players fault and not making any comment on how he sets up the same in every game regardless of opposition. This is how he is breaking players confidence, he'll never say "I got the tactics and set up wrong".
